Mourinho has restored Manchester United’s ‘winning mentality’ –Rooney

Wayne Rooney says Jose Mourinho’s winning mentality has sharpened the mind of Manchester United’s players.

Mourinho is entrusted with restoring the club to the top of the English game following three seasons in which only the FA Cup has been won, and United captain Rooney has praised the Portuguese’s influence at Old Trafford

“He’s obviously a top manager — I think his record at all the clubs he’s been at shows that,” he told GQ.

“I think he knows what he wants from the players, and the players know what the manager wants from them.

“He’s strong in that sense but as long as you’re doing what he wants, then I’m sure you’ll be fine.

“I think you can see he has got a winning mentality — not that we didn’t have that already, but he’s certainly reminded us of that.”

There is still work to do, however, highlighted by the reality United sit 6th in the Premier League — though only five focuses split them and second-set Tottenham.

Rooney acknowledges pioneers Chelsea — 14 focuses preferable off over United — are everything except distant, yet is sure of giving some important minutes before the season is out.

“I believe it’s going alright,” he included “We’re in a decent position as far as making the main four.

“Clearly our aspiration was to attempt and be champions, which will be troublesome at this point. We realize that. Be that as it may, we’re in that spot as far as attempting to place ourselves in the main four.

“We’re still in the Europa League, in the last of the League Cup and still in the FA Cup, so they’re trophies we accept we have a sufficiently solid squad to go and win.

“At that point clearly now likely we need to take a gander at attempting to complete in the main four.”
